About the Outer Banks

KILL DEVIL HILLS, NORTH CAROLINA

There is simply nothing like the pristine beaches and laid-back environment of the Outer Banks. From romantic getaways to fun in the sun with the kids, there is a little something for everyone. The Outer Banks are a string of barrier islands that split the coast of North Carolina and southeastern Virginia, and the great seashores, scenic sunrises and sunsets, and healthy ecosystem make for an unforgettable stay.
Outer Banks Beach Club sits oceanfront on South Virginia Dare Trail in Kill Devil Hills, in the middle of the Outer Banks. The beach is steps from your door, and Kitty Hawk and Nags Head are minutes away in either direction along the Beach Road.

OBX ADVENTURE HOME BASE

Where you stay in the Outer Banks changes everything about your trip. Outer Banks Beach Club puts you in Kill Devil Hills — the geographic and cultural heart of the OBX

WRIGHT BROTHERS NATIONAL MEMORIAL

Less than 2 miles away, the dunes where human flight was born are a surreal and moving landmark. The monument marks the exact spot where Wilbur and Orville Wright made history on December 17, 1903.

JOCKEY’S RIDGE STATE PARK

Minutes away, the tallest natural sand dune system on the East Coast rises 80–100 feet from the coastline. Hike to the top for views that stretch from the Atlantic to the Pamlico Sound — or bring a kite.

CAPE HATTERAS NATIONAL SEASHORE

Less than 10 miles south is the entrance to one of the most spectacular drives on the Eastern Seaboard. A National Park Service-managed corridor of preserved dunes, working lighthouses and historic barrier island towns unfolds for 70 miles.

COROLLA & THE WILD HORSES

Head north to Corolla, where the paved road ends and a herd of Spanish Mustangs — descendants of horses brought to the Outer Banks by Spanish explorers in the 1500s — roam the dunes freely.

NAGS HEAD & THE SCENIC BYWAY

The iconic Outer Banks Bypass and Beach Road corridor through Nags Head offers some of the most classically OBX views and easy access to locally owned restaurants, surf shops and attractions.
